Background

Vhi Hospital@Home is a consultant-led service allowing suitable patients to leave hospital earlier and continue certain treatments in their own home under the care of Vhi Hospital@Home’s nurses and doctors.

Since first achieving accreditation in 2013, Vhi Hospital@Home became the first home care provider in Europe to receive the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, widely recognised as the gold standard in global healthcare.

Over a decade later, HCI has played a vital role in supporting Vhi Hospital@Home in embedding and upholding these internationally recognised JCI Accreditation Standards for Home Care. This commitment to excellence and continuous improvement has led to Vhi Hospital@Home to successfully achieve JCI reaccreditation five times, a testament to their unwavering dedication to patient safety and continuous quality improvement.

Objectives

  • Continue to enhance Vhi Hospital@Home’s Quality and Safety Management System in line
    with, and to fulfil the JCI Accreditation Standards for Home Care and best practice in general.
  • Conduct monthly tracer audits to identify Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) to address any gaps
    in compliance.
  • Provide monthly onsite and offsite Quality and Safety Support.
  • Conduct annual Culture of Safety Staff Survey.
  • Conduct Quarterly Quality and Safety Reviews.
  • Provide guidance and support to Vhi Hospital@Home in preparing for their JCI Accreditation Surveys.
