Quality and Safety Review for the Health Regions
The six new HSE Health Regions will ensure the geographical alignment of hospital and community healthcare services at a regional level. As well as enabling the integration of community and acute care, Health Regions aim to empower local decision-making and support population-based service planning. This will ultimately strengthen our health service and lead to improved patient experience as well as access to healthcare closer to home.
Why Conduct a Quality and Safety Review?
HCI’s Quality and Safety Reviews for the Health Regions
HCI have specific experience in the review and development of all aspects of Quality and Safety Management Systems within hospital groups and community healthcare services.
Our process involves:
- Project Planning: Define project plan, risks, and stakeholder communication.
- Review of Current Quality and Safety Management System: Assess current safety culture with the Health Region, review key documentation, and gather feedback on existing quality and safety structures and systems through staff interviews.
- Review of Information Management Systems: Evaluate the current information management systems in use in relation to the provision of quality and safety services.
- Review and Analysis of Information: Compile and analysis information gathered from all stages and prepare a quality and safety framework for the Health Region.
Expected Outputs from the Review:
- A comprehensive Report detailing the findings of the review, and recommendations to support the development of a Quality and Safety Management System for the Health Region.
- A Quality and Safety Strategy will be developed to provide a roadmap for the Health Region’s Quality and Safety Function.
- Quality and Safety Governance Structures will be developed including key governance documents such as Quality and Safety Teams and Committees, Terms of References, Agendas and job descriptions for the quality and safety team.
- Quality and Safety Processes will be developed for the quality and safety functions.
- Key Performance Indicators will be developed in relation to Structure, Process and Outcome. These performance indicators will help the Health Regions meet their safety objectives.
Undertaking an independent Quality and Safety Review for your Health Region will strengthened governance, provide tailored quality and safety strategies and measurable performance indicators for the region, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
